Rachelle "Shelly" (Babir) Karczewski, 61, left her life on this earth on Friday, May 30, surrounded by her family. Shelly was a blessing to all who knew her, and even in her final hours she continued to show her loving concern and sense of humor to everyone around her. She was married for 41 years to her high school sweetheart Ed Karczewski, and together they raised their two children as they moved from Pennsylvania to Spain when Ed was in the military and finally to Titusville, where they have lived for 25 years. She received an Associate Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant and worked as a PTA at Parrish Medical Center, Vista Manor Nursing Home, Parrish Home Health, and Royal Oak Nursing and Rehab. She had a wonderful caring heart, and her co-workers praised her ability to help everyone through the most difficult and stressful situations. "Calm" and "inspirational" are words often used to describe her. She always put others' needs before her own.

Shelly was an enthusiastic traveler, and she enjoyed many trips and adventures with her husband and soulmate Ed, by whom she will be forever missed. She is also survived by her children and grandchildren, all from Titusville: son Gary Karczewski, his wife Wendy, and their sons Ethan and Evan; and daughter Lori Hurd, her husband Steve, and their sons Brandon and Andrew. She loved being a grandmother to the four boys, who delighted her to the end. She also leaves her siblings Mary Anne (Babir) O'Connor and husband Ray of Massachusetts, Donna Babir of Pennsylvania, Steve Babir and wife Shelly (Konvolinka) Babir of Pennsylvania, her twin sister Rebecca (Babir) Pyle and husband Larry of Pennsylvania, and David and Jan (Elder) Babir of Orlando. In addition, there are many nieces, nephews, and friends left to cherish her memory.

A funeral Mass will take place at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Titusville on June 4 at 10:00AM . There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of St. Francis in Titusville.
