Sergeant Major Alexander Robinson was called home to be with the Lord February 14, 2012. He battled brain cancer and fought like a true Marine till the end. He was home surrounded by family and friends.

Sergeant Major Robinson was born Jan 1 1943 in Orlando, FL. He attended William R Boone HS prior to enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1960. Completed basic training at Paris Island, SC and attended field artillery cannoneer school in Camp Lejeune, NC. Upon completion he was assigned the Military Occupational Specialty 0811 (Field Artillery Cannoneer). He served with the 1st Battalion, 12th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, Okinawa. He served at the Marine barracks NAS Sanford, FL. In August 1965 he was transferred to the Republic of Vietnam with the 1st Provisional Riffle Company and Alpha Battery 12th Marines. In 1967 he was assigned to Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 10th Marines, Camp Legeune, NC. He volunteered for Drill Instructor duty and served a tour at Paris Island. He returned to the 3rd Marine Division as Gunnery Sergeant with Kilo Battery, 4th Battalion, 12th Marines Okinawa. He was a recruiter with the Recruiting Station New York City. He was later Non Commission Officer in Charge of Recruiting Sub Station Brooklyn, NY. Promoted to Master Sergeant in 1975, in 1976 he was redesignated to First Sergeant. He was then promoted to Sergeant Major in 1980. He served as Sergeant Major of the Checkerboards, Marine Fighter Attack Squadron, Sergeant Major of Recruiting Station Orlando, FL. In 1986 he was transferred to Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, GA. In 1988 he received orders Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA to serve as a Depot Sergeant Major. As the Depot Sergeant Major he was responsible for all recruiters and drill instructors west of the Mississippi. After 30 successful years as a United States Marine he retired in 1990.

His personal decorations include Navy Commendation Medal with Gold Star, Navy Achievement Medal Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (w/8 stars), Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal (w/2 stars), Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation Cross of Gallantry, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Service Medal.

He then worked for the City of Altamonte Springs, FL for fifteen years, retiring in 2007 as a manager in the Waste Management Division.

He is survived by Priscilla Brown Robinson, his loving wife of 50 years which he referred to as “Love Girl”. His three daughters, Kelly Sue Edgar (John), Kristina Robinson (Tina), Leslie Frazier (Doug). His grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his sister Joyce Nelson (Doug).
