John Waage Jr. passed away on January 29, 2012. He was born in Woodhaven, Queens, New York on March 4, 1917, the son of John and Hermine Waage.

John was a devoted family man; married to his beloved wife Hilda for 62 years, who predeceased him. His three sons, John, Jeffrey, and David were the pride of his life. Later in his life, John was an extraordinary Grandfather and Great Grandfather. His greatest joy was the family around the table for a home cooked meal.

“Jake” was a welder for Pfizer in Brooklyn for 35 years. He was an active member of the Masons in Ridgewood and served as President of the Men’s Club at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Richmond Hill, Queens.

John loved to talk politics, tell stories of his family growing up together during the Great Depression and was never at a loss for words; but most of all he loved his family and he lived a long and full life.

John is survived by his two Sons, Jeffrey J. Waage of Kew Gardens, NY; and David D. Waage of Bolton Landing, NY; Daughter-in-Law, Diane Waage of Northport, FL; Daughter-in-Law, Maureen R. Waage of Bolton Landing, NY; Daughter- in -law, Elaine Engros, Grandson, Christopher J. Waage of Long Beach, NY; Grandson, John Waage of Brookfield, MA, Granddaughter-in-law, Lisa Waage of Brookfield, MA, Granddaughter, Jennifer L. Handley of Arlington, VA; Grandson-in-law, Jerry Handley of Arlington, VA, and Great-Granddaughters, Lola and Zoe.
