Austin, John Samuel Sr., "Jack", 77, of Horsham, Pennsylvania and Titusville, Florida was called to our Lord after battling Parkinson's disease for twelve years on February 24, 2014. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 21, 1936 to William and Catherine Austin. He was the younger brother of William. Jack worked as a splicer, construction manager and fiber optic expert with Bell Telephone Co. for 36 years. He retired from Bell Atlantic in December, 1991. He continued his career in Fiber Optics with EXFO Engineering of Quebec, Canada for an additional five years. Jack had many Masonic affiliations and was a Past Master of WK Bray Lodge #410 F and AM in Hatboro, and a Boy Scout leader of Troop 668 of Horsham, PA. Jack was an active member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Chruch where he served on the vestry and sang bass in the choir. Jack always loved to travel, and camp with his friends. His hobbies included wood working, furniture building, and projects for his family. Since 1992, Jack enjoyed spending the winters in the wonderful community of The Great Outdoors where he played golf, went deep sea fishing and spent time with his many friends. More recently, he was fond of the Friday Men's lunch group with Pastor Dave Murton.

He is survived by his wife, Alice of 55 years; his children John Jr. (Nancy) of Horsham, PA; Catherine Haas (Jeff) of Horsham, PA; and Carole Drury (John) of Lawrenceville, NJ. He was particularly proud of his 7 grandchildren: William and Julia Austin; Emily and Thomas Haas; and Catherine, Allison, and Jaclyn Drury. He also had a close relationship with his nephews: Kenneth and Kevin Austin of Florida.

A service in celebration of Jack's life will be held with St. Christopher's Church at The Great Outdoors on Friday, February 28 at 2:00 PM and then again on May 31, 2014 at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Maple Glen, PA. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in memory of Jack to the Hospice of St. Francis in Titusville, Florida or the music program at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Maple Glen, PA.
