I’m at a loss. I’ve just discovered that my go to Jungle-er is no longer a part of our lives. My yard is a testament to this amazing man and his shared love of the Jungle. I’m at a loss without Jungle Bob’s advise.

I remember pulling my car into Green Jungle about 20 or more years ago. Bob was a helpful, zealous plant man. We started talking and I told him about the plant nursery my parents had 50 years ago. We exchanged all kind of plant stories. He said he liked his customers but he usually would end up loosing them because they would fix up their yards and not need plants once they were established. I just found out today that he had passed away and it made me really sad. This world needs more people like Bob and it would be a better place. So sorry for your loss.

I’m in shock! Just read the Jungle man died! I have been his customer for 18 years! Didn’t know what was going on, passing by the jungle all the time , suspecting something major was going on. Decided to Googled and found out Bob is gone! A man of integrity, hard worker and loved his family! I always talked to him about work, retirement, trace and helped when needed assistance translating to customers! My heart goes out to his dear family ! I will miss the jungle man advisess and his charisma! RIP????

Today googled the green jungle and read the obituary! I’m really upset! We always talked about the jungle, my job, his family trips and of course , plants! I am saddened by this news, Bob was more than my nursery guidance, he was a friend. I met Bob over 10 years when I moved to Lake Nona. He guided me in my plants and fruit trees development. We would chat about my home in Jamaica because he lived in the islands too. Several hours each visit as my sister's and I also wanted to see the lastest sells. We would talk a lot about life in general and plants. I am telling you, he will be truly missed. My love to his family. ??????

Going to see Bob at the Nursery was my favorite thing to do! He was always so welcoming and willing to help me choose the best trees he had. I have the most magnificent Guava tree and Sugar Apple tree! This news sadness me, I have called the nursery a million times trying to reach him, Last time we talked I promised to bring him a guava. I’m sure going to miss our conversation. May he rest in peace!

My name is Melissa and over the past two years I’ve become good friends with Bob. I visited him about twice a month to pick up several fruit trees for my small business. Bob would always joke with me that one day I was going to buy his business from him and run it so that he could actually retire. I texted him last week to ask about some trees and when I didn’t get a response I grew concerned. I tried calling and once I realized his phone was turned off I did a search and devastatingly came across this. My heart is absolutely broken and I am so full of grief for his family whom he spoke of often. I just saw him not even a week before his passing and he seemed happy and healthy talking about a recent visit to his family. Bob taught me so much about the industry and I recall one of the most important things he told me about a conversation he had a with a peer who said “aren't we all so lucky we get to do what we love for work?” It’s the truth and I will always remember him as a mentor. I am shocked and very upset. I completely respect the family’s wishes for a private service. I would be incredibly grateful if any of you would take a moment when you can find one to contact me as I feel such a void learning of his passing. I know what an amazing friend I considered him so I can’t imagine the loss you all are feeling. Please know that as a stranger to you all I can vouch for how much he loved and adored you all.

I got to know Bob Hopper and family through my daughter Emma who was a good friend of Sam’s and her then little brother Bobby. Sam spent many sleepovers at our house eating Tootsie Pops and listening to bad rap music. Our families went out for a lot of great dinners together. We sat together at a lot of Wolves basketball games. I really got to know Bob when we were both training to run a marathon. I was training for Chicago and he was training for Disney. We spent a great number of Saturdays or Sundays getting in our long run. He was all in and determined to train well and to run a good race. We spent countless hours running together. Out at the crack of dawn in order to beat the heat. We took turns going out ahead of each run and planting some water or Gatorade at strategic spots. I once set some water along the side of a dirt road down an embankment. When we arrived there that day, I went down the embankment to get the water and there was a Momma and Papa Sandhill crane and two babies. I startled them, they startled me, and the papa crane spread his wings out six feet wide and chased me back up the embankment. It was the fastest I ran all day, I didn’t think it was so funny, but Bob laughed like hell. He laughed about this for years, every time we got together. I learned a lot about him through the conversations we had, about his family growing up, his time spent in the Army and about his wife and children and his work. He was so proud of his family and it was easy to see that he was in full support of all their hopes and dreams. We talked a lot about what was going on in the world, we shared our opinions and ideas and in the end we believed that together we could have solved most of the problems in the world. He was passionate about his work. He drove that green truck far and wide to buy just the right plants and trees. He enjoyed helping his customers and he loved being an entrepreneur. He was good at it. There were plenty of stretches during our runs where there was no conversation at all. For that one time each week we just cleared our heads, lost in the rhythm of the pace. We both felt like that was good for the body and the soul. It was great to have a friend to train with and to have a common goal. There were plenty of times when I wasn’t having my best day and as always, he was so supportive and wasn’t shy with encouragement. He ran a good race that day at Disney but more importantly he ran a good race throughout his life. Our hearts and minds are full of prayers for the Hopper family. He will be missed but we will all be comforted by the memories of Bob the man, father and friend he was to all of us. We send all of our love, Patty, Gary, Jennie and Emma Moser

We were neighbors when I was a kid. One day he asked me if I wanted a pet rat snake that he found at his plant nursery , I gladly accepted. He was always very kind to think of others in the comunity. As kids we would also have lime throwing wars between his two lime trees in their back yard. All the kids from the neighborhood would join in. I wander if he knew where all the limes went. He will be greatly missed.

As soon as I mentioned that I worked with Pam at Waterford elementary his eyes lit up and we talked about his wonderful wife and the pleasure it was for me to work with her. What can I say about Bob? Bob was bigger than life. He was a man that always wore a smile. Bob's laugh was infectious. I can hear it now resonating in my head. It no doubt would bring a smile to your face. I remember a time that he offered to share his kimchi with me. He opened the lid and made sure I got a good whiff. Afterward, he burst out laughing because he got from me the reaction he was hoping.
I don't think I once heard Bob complain. He lived stress free and on his terms. He stayed true to himself.
Bob loved his wife, his family, his friends, and his job. He was beyond kind and always welcomed me into his home. If I can take away anything from his passing, it's to not take anything, or anyone for granted. Show more gratitude for what we have. Enjoy every moment, laugh more, love more and live more.

Bob Hop was a major father figure in my life. I spent a lot of time at the Hopper house and always felt so welcome. He introduced Sam and me to a love for running ... I always remember seeing his marathon photos hanging. My family has cherished memories of cruising with the Hoppers. Bob, every time I saw you, you were smiling. The love and joy you have for your wife was so apparent in your eyes and smile. The manner in which your expressions revealed your love between one another is something I always noticed and will always keep close.
