Caswell Odessa Alleyne Life story video
Caswell Odessa Alleyne was born on May 9th 1941 in St Phillip, Barbados to the late Hermine Atkinson and Owen Alleyne. Although Caswell was an only child, she was a loved and focal member of the Alleyne, Atkinson, and Roach families. Caswell immigrated from Barbados to the United States in the 1950s and settled in Brooklyn, New York with her parents.

As a young woman Caswell developed her trademark personality, one that is best described as vivacious. Caswell loved being the center of attention and the life of the party. Caswell embraced and nurtured beautiful lifelong friendships. To many she was a trusted adviser, confidante, attentive listener, and voice of reason. Caswell’s formal education was capped with her attendance at the prestigious Ophelia DeVore School of Charm and where she entertained thoughts of becoming a model.

Beautiful as she was, Caswell instead pursued a career in the insurance industry which started at New York Life. During this time she met, fell in love with, and married, Winston McCLean. They had two children, Camille and Winston (Randy). After years of being a homemaker Caswell returned to the insurance industry at Royal Insurance company. Caswell would later relocate with Royal insurance to Charlotte, North Carolina. After an early retirement, Caswell moved to Orlando, Florida.

In retirement Caswell honed her skills as the great communicator keeping in touch with friends and family through phone calls, texts and emails. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren, as a doting grandmother "Mama" spent countless hours loving, caring for, and otherwise enjoying the company of her family. Caswell loved her family and she loved to travel. Her retirement in Florida allowed her to enjoy both. Family trips with Mama were events that will long be treasured.

Caswell was a devoted daughter, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves to mourn her two children Camille and Randy, and their spouses Ole and Suilen, seven grandchildren: Cameron (Camille), Ole Peter, Briana (Darnisha), Austin, Carina, Kayla and Winston III (Ran), and two great-grandchildren Dominic and Malaki, her nephews, a host of cousins and extended family, and her dear treasured friends.

Visitation is Friday February 28, 2020 from 2pm to 3pm with funeral mass at 3pm at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, Oviedo, FL.

Due to the week of Lent, flowers will not be permitted at the church for the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
