Dear Chantal , I’m so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Loosing someone you love is so hard. Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble. Looking up scripture in the Bible on grief really helped me when my mom and Bubby passed. If it wasn’t for God I would have lost it. Love in Jesus, Darlene

My memories of Carl reach back some 30 or 40 years when we shared interests. We had mutual friends both in New York City and Baltimore, and, as small groups, we pursued visiting markets specializing in Italian food and cooking. We shared experiencing local travels, to such places as Woodstock upstate New York. Carl and his wife Chantal, sailed on the inside passage to Florida, living on their small sailboat and settling in the keys. Son Chay grew to school age and they moved to central Florida. My wife Karen and I travelled from our home here in Washington state to visit east coast relatives over the years and we always enjoyed the warmth, hospitality and Carl's wonderful cooking. We were always invited to stay with the Mirabiles at their home in Titusville, swimming in the back yard pool to escape the Florida heat. (smile) Carl has been one of the best friends in my life. I will miss him for as long as I live. Joe Brown

Uncle C,
I will never forget hearing your messages on our home phone, saying “Hey Merendinos!” or you greeting my mom on the phone, saying: “Gene!” You always made her so happy. I’d never get tired of hearing you and her laughing together on the phone. I am forever grateful for all of the trips down to Florida where we got to see you and Chantal, and our Tennessee trip too. You were one of a kind. To hear you talk about Italy like you were there yesterday was fascinating. You could recall memories so quick, it was amazing. I wish we had more time together. May you rest in peace. I know you and Roe are up there together.

My dearest Uncle"C"-
We are so blessed to have soooooo many wonderful memories of our visits, looking at old photos, talking about all the old bakeries and Italian restaurants in Baltimore. I will cherish all the wonderful and funny times that we all had together. I will miss our many funny phone conversations. You will always hold a very special place in our hearts. Just know that you are thought of often and with much love. Love, Gina & Family

Poppy was so very special to us, I have many fond memories.
Jasmine and I were laughing the other day about when we would all go to lunch or dinner and if we had any leftovers Carla would always say "we'll bring it home to Poppy ." I think Poppy enjoyed the food we snuck in.
I remember many conversations with him sitting at the dining room table. He would always bring a smile to your face. I could sit there for hours listening to him talk.
He treated Jasmine (Jasbo) like his own granddaughter. She loved her Poppy!
Thinking of the family during this time. I know he's left you with many memories and love.
We love you, Grandma, Carla and Britt!

Lisa and I are so sorry for your loss, our fondest memories are those of a kind man with a smile on his face and an incredible love for his family. May your family find peace, and cherish all the wonderful memories and time you shared with Mr. M. Lisa & Frank Polidora.

Carl was my brother-in-law but he was also my friend. We
shared a common love of jazz music and his knowledge of the
subject was extensive. We would discuss the various artists
and their contributions but also the struggles many of them
faced. Being a jazz musician myself Carl helped me in hard
times by opening his home to me and giving me a new start
on life. Through the many years I knew him he
treated his family with love and understanding and set an
example for me that will be forever inspiring. You
will be missed greatly.
Love,
Mark

"The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind".
I am grateful for the many years we have spent together as a family and all the memories made along the way.
I am sure going to miss you calling to check on me, letting me know if I should need anything that you were there and always ending it with an... "I love you".
With much love,
Angel

Dearest Carl. We didn’t see very much of each other but every time we did we had the best time, reminiscing, laughing and making wonderful memories. You were kindness personified and we will miss you but are thankful we were lucky to have had you in our lives xxxx

I met Poppy when I was in the 8th grade when Carla and I became friends. Poppy always made us girls crack up with his sense of humor. I cant recall a time around him when I didnt laugh about something. I smile as I write this thinking of his genuine, sweet smile. Poppy always put his family first and was a hard worker.
Poppy, you will be missed by so many. Thank you for the memories and the laughs.
To all of Poppy's family . I hold you close to my heart.

Pops, you are the best grandfather a grandson could ask for. You always put your family first and wouldn’t hesitate to give your shirt off your own back for me. I love you so much and I know you will look over the whole family and keep us all safe. You have the biggest heart and I cant wait till the day I can tell my children about the one and only, popsicle. I love you and I miss you so much.

“When you speak of him, speak not with tears, for thoughts of him should not be sad. Let memories of the times you shared give you comfort, for his life was rich because of you.”

Pain is in the memories lost or taken for granted. Joy is in the memories never forgotten.
I am grateful to be the grandson to such a selfless man, who’s main priority was his loved ones. I know he will always be there for me in all my future endeavors, as he always has been. He was, and forever will be, the father of our family. I love you Poppioso.
With a heavy heart,

I’ll remember Poppy as one of the good guys.
He was a gentleman in all aspects of the word.
He cared for and loved his family before all else.
He was kind, calm, considerate, and chivalrous.
I’m thankful to have known him.
and will cherish his memory always.

While I have spent enough time with Carl (and Chantal) to admire and respect him (and her) I knew him best through Carla and Che’, 2 people I consider my best friends and even more, family. They are living proof that Carl was amazing, and loving.
He fixed all my mistakes on every electrical project I ever did with grace and without judgement, even though I could have burned the house down.
I will miss his smile and wonderful humor.

I had the honor of knowing Carl for only a short time but his beautiful soul made a life time impact on me. He always greeted me with a smile and a bag of herbs from his and Chan’s garden. Little did he know how much he spiced up my life. Carl will be missed but remembered dearly for the rest of my life on this earth. God bless him and his family.
~ Melissa Tyo-Grooten - April 25, 2019
