My parents were with RBMU in Congo.
When the mission was opening into Irian Jaya, all missionaries were asked to take a stipend reduction which, of course they did willingly.
The usual greeting between them was “how are you doing on 50%.?
Kukulu the parrot greeted a visiting dignitary with “hello Mr. Harris, how are you doing on 50%.?
My parents were Gilbert and Ella Campbell.
For your interest. Reg Hall, born in Congo is rewriting the history of RBMU in Congo.
My parents never met Don and Carol Richardson, but prayed earnestly for them and thoroughly enjoyed the books written by Don.
Be of good cheer!. Morag Campbell Drew.

Don was on my mind today, rather out of the blue. I was not aware that he had died. I was attending Prairie Bible Institute when he spoke there and presented Peace Child. The redemptive analogies perspective is very alive to me and actually when I thought of Don today it was because I was revisiting that concept from a new perspective. So Don, although we never met face to face, has played a very significant role in my life as a believer. I am inspired anew to read the books he wrote that I have not yet read.

It was summer, 2011, in a Cresta hotel in Randburg, Johannesburg. We had agreed to meet there, which was going to be my first time meeting this beloved Ambassaror of Christ, the late Don Richardson. He came straight to me as if he had seen me before. I wondered, " How could he recognide me "? It started on that day. I obtained his blessing for the Work " Eternity In Their Hearts ", which I had just completed translating in full into IsiZulu. I followed up With " Peacechild ". though I haven't managed to get them both published. We believers have truly been blessed with such a zealous soldier of Christ. Our Lord promised to get us together with Him in the not so distant future - where we will up with our beloved Ambassador.
Blessings to all of His Saints

It was a joy to get to know Don Richardson. As a member of Youth With a Mission, we were gripped by his amazing stories and gifted style of communication. I had the privilege of holding a mission's conference with Don as the speaker in Honolulu. We never got tired of listening to Don share the redemptive stories that have gripped countless thousands and have caused many to follow in his footsteps in reaching the most unreached.

It was a privilege to work with Don on many of his books that he published with Regal Books.

Loving to read, I read "Peace Child" two times and then "Lord's of the Earth" and "Eternity in Their Hearts." Later I read Don's book on Islam.
During furlough ministry from Indonesia (where I worked for 32 years) I always had a book table and purchased hundreds of books from Don Richardson Books. Don always gave me a good price. Over the years I sold hundreds of copies of "The Peace Child."
Don's books were a great blessing to me and to others.
From time to time I would phone Don and he always had time to talk. I remember one time he wanted to share something from the Word with me and for 30 minutes had me leafing through my Bible.
Later I stayed with Don and Carol in their home in California for a week enjoying their warm hospitality and in depth discussion on many subjects.
It was a great joy to know Don, witness his on-going focus on missions, have his input and know him as a friend.
My condolences for his family.

I just want to thank Don for his dedication and heart towards the Great Commission. As a student of Perspectives and Kairos, and a facilitator, I value his passion for Christ that is helping Christ followers become world Christians. His work and service is multiplying all over the nations. Thank you for impacting my life. To God be the glory.

Mary and I were honored to have Don stay with us several times when he spoke to our Perspectives classes here in Dallas.
We got "Eternity in their hearts" many years before meeting him, but I put it aside. When I finally got around to reading it, it was life changing.
"Unhidden", one of his later books, described as his magnum opus, presented Don's vision of a unified field and he shared with us his love for Physics and just how God shared with him while they were living in the village, His "theory of everything". A must read for scientific and missionary types. He also told us that there was more that could have been put in the book. I hope his family will consider re-publish with his additional material.
We will miss the anticipation of hearing him speak.
~ John Anderson - January 7, 2019
Don and Carol lived with us in Miaro during our early days in Papua Indonesia. They mentored us and provided fellowship to us young, rookie missionaries. It has been our privilege to maintain contact with them through the years, and with Don after Carol's passing. We will miss Don. He was a brilliant man of God. Our prayers continue for Don's wife, children, and grandchildren.
~ Kathy Haglund - January 5, 2019
Don's impact on my life and work has been immeasurable. In 1983, after watching Peace Child as a high school senior, I spent the summer with Project Timothy (RMBU) among the Sawi. That experience transformed my life. I eventually wrote my PhD dissertation on another tribe in Papua and have been teaching courses in Christian mission ever since. Our last conversation (lasting nearly 3 hours) was about 2 years ago. Don was full of intellectual and spiritual vitality! Praise God that Don will join many Sawi in heaven and see that ultimate Peace Child face to face.
~ Charles Farhadian - January 3, 2019
Dear Carol, Stephen and your brothers and sister
Please accept our deepest sympathy on the passing of Don. Kevin and I will always remember Don and Carol and the time we spent with them whilst Carol was so very ill. For myself, Heather, I will never forget their friendship that they extended to our family as we emigrated to New Zealand on the SS Oriana in 1962.

With Don's 'home-going', the world Christian movement has lost a champion! He will be sorely missed, especially by our movement, Simply Mobilizing, and those who have done our Kairos Course where Don featured prominently both through his writings and even more so through his video presentations!
Multiplied thousands have been impacted by Don's teaching in the Kairos Course, primarily in majority world countries where Kairos has been most fruitful. Don's teachings on 'The Abrahamic Covenant', 'Messiah for All Peoples' and 'A World Prepared for the Gospel' have been life changing, missions mobilizing and ministry forming for a whole new generation of missionaries, especially in the non-western world.
We also, immensely enjoyed having Don speak at our International Conference, visit us at our Center in the Philippines and share insights, stories and jokes during numerous meal time conversations!
Don ran a fabulous 'race', crossed the finish line and finished his course! He has now joined the great throng of witnesses (Heb 12:1) that inspire us to do the same!
Our hearts and love goes out to Carol and family!
Grace, grace and more grace!
Love and blessings
Max and Dorothy Chismon and all the SMI (Kairos) Global Family.

Don,
I was just one of many whose life you touched. The summer of 1973 will always be a significant milestone for me - you and Carol opened your home and lives to me as the Lord just let me "happen" to be a short-term student missionary from Southern California in New Guinea. The memories of being part of the "Peace Child" film crew for these now 45 years remain vivid and poignant. More pertinent, the Jesus waiting behind that striking, significant "redemptive analogy" for the Sawi continues to be available to all who seek Him still. My deepest thanks, Don, for your ministry. May God touch and turn the hearts of many, many more yet to hear of Christ because of your faithful, thoughtful, eternity-focused service. And, as you would want, to God be the glory!

I would like to send these words of consolation to those that loved this apostle Paul said what has been made possible by Jesus’ resurrection. “Since death is through a man,” said Paul, “resurrection of the dead is also through a man.” Because of the sin and imperfection passed on to us from Adam, we all die. However, by giving his perfect human life as a ransom, Jesus opened the way for mankind to be released from slavery to sin and death through the resurrection. Summing up the matter nicely, Paul wrote at Romans 6:23: “The wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord.”

My deepest condolences for your loss. I pray you may find comfort through friends and family. And I truly hope you may find peace in the God of all comfort. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4). There is a hope we may look forward to very much in Rev. 21: 3,4. I pray you and your loved ones may find comfort in this.

I first met Don when my husband and I took Perspectives in Richmond, VA in 2012. Our lives were forever changed from night one when we heard Bob Sjogren speak, whom Don trained. A few weeks later, Don spoke. Between top line/bottom line and hearing about God's glory for all nations, our eyes were opened and our view of God became so much bigger! I continued to serve with Perspectives and also with World Horizons, a mission organization in Richmond. We had the pleasure of having Don come and speak. Don was a wonderful story teller, and we were reminded once again of how great our God is and how the God of the Bible is still at work in the world today making His name great among the nations. Don was gracious enough to sign books and prints for us, and so we have constant reminders of both Don's talent and work, as well as God's character and work in the world in our home. Don set a high example for us to follow, and we endeavor to bring God glory by bringing the nations to worship Him. Our lives are much better and brighter because of Don! We are forever changed because of Don, and are so grateful that God brought him into our lives!
~ Lynn Bowman - December 29, 2018
Mr. Richardson's books and teaching shaped my thinking as a student at Washington Bible College in the late 70's. He greatly influenced a group of us students there, and most of us are still actively serving in mission work. My condolences to his family.
~ Wonita Werley - December 28, 2018
Hello Carol. This is Adam Nickell - Joy Nickell's son and the pastor who had Don come and visit us in November of 2017. I'm not sure but I think we would have been one of the last local church's Don got to speak at (in Canada anyway) before his diagnosis. He was such a wonderful man and servant of Jesus! I know that you and all of us will miss him so much and yet we are so aware of our hope that his death is not the end - we will see him again! Love and prayers to you and the whole family. I wish I could be at his service down there on January 12th. Will be praying for that time.
Yours in Christ,
Adam Nickell (Don's First Cousin once removed)
~ Adam Nickell - December 28, 2018
I had the pleasure of hosting Don in our guest house for Perspectives in Midland, Tx.
I have one of his tribal art pieces framed in there now, as well as in our home, and love being reminded of his story and his sweet, humble, gentle spirit.
I know he will be greatly missed but the angels must be rejoicing welcoming such a true servant of our Lord.
~ Penny Farish - December 28, 2018
My deepest sympathies go out to the Richardson family. May you draw on your faith during this difficult time. Our Lord Jesus Christ, gave us a wonderful hope to look forward to at John 5;28,29. I have no doubt that you are looking forward to being reunited with Don once this promise is fulfilled.
~ Jessica Blanco - December 28, 2018
I arrived in Irian Jaya (with RBMU UK) in March 1969 and soon met Don & Carol at our Mission conference at Karubaga. Memories of another conference there when a fire broke out in the complex at night. I went to help & met Don who handed me a chess board with pieces still in place as he had been in the middle of a game:"Rosa, please take this & put in a safe place for me!!"
Years later I had the privilege of helping as midwife at Valerie's birth and shall never forget Don holding his precious daughter in his hands & with tears in his eyes, giving thanks to the Lord for her after having 3 boys!
Don's books have been a great blessing to me personally and I have shared many copies with friends here in UK & abroad too.
Sharing in your sorrow at his passing now but confident his legacy will live on & continue to bring challenge & joy to many more in the future.
Thank you and blessings on your families.
With love from Rosa x

Great servant of the gospel of redemption is gone to rest. His greatest impact was preaching Christ crucified to the Stoneage tribe of Sawi in Papau New Guinea, translating the New Testament to Sawi language and development of Sawi alphabet.
~ Sunday Iwalaiye - December 27, 2018
My husband and I are both grieved yet praising the Lord for taking home one of His great saints.
My husband, New Life Community church in San Jose, and I had the privilege of getting to host Don back in late February of this year; I believe it was one of his last speaking engagements. Never would I have imagined having the opportunity to meet Don Richardson 4 years after my discipler first encouraged me to read his book, The Peace Child. He had just as much energy and zeal for the Lord when I met him as he had back then! The Holy Spirit was clearly at work in this man. Even with each short car ride, taking him from each location left us so encouraged and eager to hear the wonderful works God has done through this man’s life (he was also always such a gentleman in opening the doors for others). He engaged our whole congregation and made us thirst all the more for reaching the unreached, seeing God’s glory on full display. His parting words to my husband and I we will never forget, “I will see you either here, there, or up in the air and will look for you in the book of life!” That same visit he also introduced Jonathan Chao; praise God that each are in our Savior Jesus Christ’s presence now and forevermore. We look forward to rejoicing once again with Don in heaven before our great Lord and Savior.
“How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who announces peace and brings good news of happiness, who announces salvation, And says to Zion, "Your God reigns!"- Isaiah 52:7

So sorry to hear of Don's passing. My husband and I attended Prairie Bible Institute at the same time as Don. His first wife, Carol Soderstrom, was my next-door neighbor in C-dorm when I was a freshman student.

Don always fascinated me with his true stories of sharing the Gospel. “Missions” came alive as I sat on the edge of my seat every time I heard him speak. It didn’t matter if it was the first - or thirtieth time - he shared an event. Don was a great Ambassador of God’s love ?? to the world. I’m so blessed to have known him and his family for over forty years.

I was in the six grade when I first read Peace Child. I thought at the time what a thrilling, exciting adventure of a life and that "I would like to do that." Later, after committing my life to Christ, I also have entered the mission field. While I do not live interior in Papua, Indonesia, I now serve the Bible translation team in Papua. Thank you, Don Richardson, for being part of my calling to Our Lord's service.

Don and Carol inspired me while attending Central Baptist Church in Victoria, BC. At 18, I was a new believer in 1962. I followed them closely through University. From time to time he and Carol spoke and wrote about their work with the Sawi people in Papua - West Irian Jira. My wife and I met in Central and went on to serve the Lord in Media for the last 50 years in Israel. There we met Don’s brother Dave who we love and respect. The Richardson’s have made a deep and lasting impact on our lives for extending the Kingdom of God now and forever.

It has been an honour to know and meet with Don, and Carol, personally over the past 10 years and we are so grateful to God for the immeasurable legacy he has left for future generations through his inspiring missionary endeavours, engaging authorship and his global teaching itinerary. You are now receiving your eternal reward. Well done, and thank you, good and faithful servant!

I was just a teenager when I read Peace Child and Lords of the Earth. Though I started feeling God's pull towards serving him abroad, I never thought that I could serve in a place like Papua. I was just not tough enough. Stories of God's transformational work documented by Don Richardson have blessed so many and I am just one of them. I am now serving as a mother tongue literacy consultant with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Papua, Indonesia and am amazed that indeed God has entrusted me with this gift of ministry here. It's not nearly as difficult and rugged as it was at the time Don and Carol Joy first arrived though. I am blessed to reap from the sacrifices they and many others have made. The gospel has born much fruit in Papua and it's thanks to God's hands and feet like the Richardsons and so many others. Thank you for a life well-lived.
