Joanne Marie Bawal passed away March 17, 2020 with her husband by her side.

She was born on December 3, 1942 in St. Clair, Michigan to parents William and Hazel Lisee. Joanne attended Holy Cross Catholic School in Marine City, where she graduated in 1960. She then went on to Junior College where she completed her education in accounting.

Joanne married Raymond Bawal on September 15, 1962. They have three children together, and resided in Michigan until moving to Orlando, FL in 2002.

She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. Joanne was kind, loving, had a great personality, and loved to laugh.

Joanne loved playing bingo, shopping, and making crafts. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She always kept a special place in her heart for her grandsons, Sean and Raymond, and her great-grandson, Jaxson. They were the light of her life. She was so very proud of them.

Joanne is survived by her husband, Raymond; her daughter, Anne Cope; her son, Raymond (Connie) Bawal, Jr.; grandsons, Sean Cope, Raymond (Ashley Pacquette) Bawal, III; great-grandson, Jaxson Bawal; her sisters, Margaret Ann Duchene and Janet Weikel; nephew Steve (Donnis) Duchene; niece Debbie (Chris) Matchell; many great-nephews, and great-nieces, friends, and her little dog, Violet.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Hazel Lisee; son, William Bawal; brother, Harry Lisee; and brothers-in-law, Charles Duchene and Richard Weikel.

Joanne was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed and will forever be in our hearts.

A private service will be held by the family at a later date.

Living across the street from the Lisee family in the 40's and 50's, I remember all of them, Mr. and Mrs Lisee, Harry, Margaret Ann, Joanne and Janet. Joanne and I were in the same class at Holy Cross. Most of the families on Bell Street did not have cars so we walked everywhere. There were a lot of families with kids in the neighborhood, Pipers, Kirchners, Chartiers, Lisees, LaCombes, Stevensons, Burns, Damraus, Leskos, Cohrs, Lees, Sokolowskis, Zobels, Miners, Yacques. It was a great neighborhood to grow up in.

I was her great-niece. Aunt Joanne Being part of a sassy sister trio, My Grandmother, Margaret (Gemma) and My Great-aunt, Jan. She had a great sense of humor, was courageous and loved her family very much. Every time I visited Florida to see my Gemma, I visited Aunt Joanne and her family for dinner and we ate McDonald’s and spent time together. I haven’t seen them in a while but every visit with the Bawal’s was such a happy memory. We love her, and miss her here in NC. She made the funniest jokes and some of the best memories. Love to my family in Florida, and forever to Aunt Joanne.

Aunt Joanne, was a loving, caring and faith filled woman. I will always remember her quick humor and generous warmth. We will miss her, but look forward to being reunited someday. We will go on then, like we never had this hiccup of separation.
