Chief Richard Lee Peterson, Sr, age 79, of Rockledge, Florida passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Weustoff Hospital in Rockledge.
A native of East Palestine, OH he came to Titusville in 1989 from there. "Chief," as he was affectionately known, was career Navy, and served during the time of the Bay of the Pigs and the Vietnam war.
He was a very humorous person that everyone looked up to and knew that he would be the first to be there to help. He was also a great father, husband, grand-father and all of his children's friends and others who knew him considered him their "dad" also. Chief never met a stranger and was a Catholic who faithfully followed Jesus Christ.
He is survived by: his wife of 59 years, Sara Paula Peterson, whom he met and married in Spain on October 1, 1960.
Additional survivors include his sons: Richard Lee (Vera), Jr of Titusville, Joseph Anthony (Jeanette) of Fruitland Park, Michael Angelo (Mary) of Ormond Beach, Robert Christopher of Rockledge;
sisters: Doreen of East Palenstine, OH, Nancy of East Palenstine, OH;
eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial celebration of his life on Saturday, April 06, 2019 at 4:00 PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions Titusville Chapel.
