Steven Thomas Crosbie, age 60, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2019. He was born July 14, 1958 in Potsdam, NY.

He is survived by his mother Phyllis Wood and stepfather Dale Wood of Littlestown, PA; and his father Thomas Crosbie of Potsdam, NY; daughter Christina Morgan (Ryan) of Apopka, FL; son Nathan Crosbie of Oak Hill, FL; brother Timothy Crosbie of Westminster, MD; brother Joshua Wood of Woodbine, MD; grandchildren Lillian, Hailey, and Amber; aunt Linda Ferrell of Keeseville, NY; aunt Judy Bennett of Norwood, NY; ex-wife Kim Crosbie; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was a 1976 Graduate of South Carroll High School, Sykesville, MD.

Steve was an EC135N Crew Chief in the USAF from 1976-1980. He always had a love of aviation.

He attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach campus, studying Aircraft Maintenance from August 1980-July 1982. He got his acceptance letter from Rockwell International to work at Kennedy Space Center in July 1982. This began his career as a Vehicle Test Mechanic. He was then promoted to Forward Shop Lead. He was also chosen to be a team member on the Astronaut Close Out Crew. On shuttle launch day as he was loading the Astronauts into the Orbiter, he would always tell them “if they changed their mind about going, to step out of camera view and they would change suits and he would go in their place”!

He had a love for cars. Through the years he began to follow NASCAR, going to many races across the country where he made a lot of friends along the way.

Steve also liked to go bass fishing. His friends have many stories to tell of their adventures.

In 2016, he moved back to Florida to be near his children and grandchildren whom he dearly loved.

A visitation will be held Tuesday February 12, 2019 at Newcomer Funeral Home 2400 South Washington Avenue, Titusville, Florida 32780. Visitation is 5:00pm to 7:00pm with a funeral service to follow. Mike Tiller from Mims House of Prayer will be officiating.

Military Honors will be presented.
