Charles "Rick" Custer, age 76, of Titusville, Florida passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Parrish Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Born in Parkersburg, WV, he came to the Titusville area in 1952 and except for about 10 years when he was in Cleveland, he has lived here his entire life. Rick was a project manager for Rockwell Company, working on the Apollo, Shuttle, and Space Station projects; until he retired in 1997. The 10 years he spent in Cleveland was when he went there for Rocketdyne to establish an office. Rick was an avid golfer and also the consummate entertainer. With a deep, rich, voice that projected well he enjoyed the opportunity to sing at any occasion. He was a public speaker who knew how to hold an audience and had been one of the founding members of the Toastmaster's Club at the Kennedy Space Center. He loved Titusville and had served as a member of the City Council in the late 1970's. He served in the Marines during the Vietnam era teaching computers and information systems. He worked with the local theater groups as a member of their management group. He was also a volunteer for the North Brevard Cancer Association, a mentor to disadvantaged children and a person who enjoyed surf fishing. Everyone who knew Rick knew him as an achiever, who set goals and diligently reached them.

Survivors include his wife: Edith; children: Richard (Simona) of Melbourne, Christopher (Shelly) of Pilot Mountain, NC, Adam (Katie) Pearson of Houston, TX; sister: Barbara Schwartz of College Station, TX; brothers: Dale (Elaine) of Titusville, Larry of Colorado, Ronnie of St Augustine; and nine grandchildren.

Interment of his cremated remains will be at a later date in Cape Canaveral National Cemetery with military honors. For friends who wish, the family suggests memorials contributions in his name to the Wounded Warriors Project, in lieu of flowers
