George H. Ford, Sr. (SMSGT; USAF, Ret.) Life story video
George H. Ford, Sr., 83, of Orlando, FL. passed away on 1 December 2018. Born on August 29, 1935, he was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. John H. Ford. He was a career USAF SMSgt and NCOIC leading Civil Engineering construction and operation projects, serving 20 years in places like France, Spain, England, and various locations in the USA. He is a Vietnam Veteran. After that career, he joined other service members he knew to lead civil engineering efforts for another 24 years at the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. Along the way, he completed his degree in Business Management from Florida Southern College.

He was the devoted husband of Ruth Ford, to whom he was married for 65 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Ford. and grandson, Geoffrey Ford. He is survived by his son, George Jr. of Severn, MD and daughter-in-law Beverly; daughter, Sherry Reid and husband, Rob of Liberty Township, OH; and daughter-in-law Beth Ford, Warren, OH; grandchildren, Diana and Dan Speelman, Nicholas Ford, Gregory Ford, Christopher and Selina Ford, Thomas Ford, Alexa and Donald Bell, and Ryan Reid; and great grandchildren, Alyssa and Luke Speelman.

His favorite pastimes were working on cars, landscaping, and adventures in global travel and ship cruising. He enjoyed all types of music from country to big bands, Celtic music and bagpipes. He was an avid fan of local and military history, and current events. He enjoyed going to military air shows. His sense of humor, friendly nature, role model to others and kind heart made him a special person to a lot of people.

The family will receive visitors from 5pm - 7pm on Monday December 10, 2018 at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 835 S Goldenrod Road Orlando FL 32822. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Newcomer’s Funeral Home Tuesday December 11, 2018 at 1pm. Burial will follow immediately post service at Greenwood Cemetery 1603 Greenwood Street Orlando, FL 32801.
