Kathleen Mary Faia Forrest, 85, born June 10th 1932 in Lynn Massachusetts, passed away May 12th, 2018 in Orlando, Florida. A beautiful and proud 1st generation tall Scott/Irish fiery red head with iced blue eyes with a great sense of humor. She was the pillar of the family. Also a talented artist with a full scholarship to art school, but chose the noble profession of nursing. She attended Boston College and worked as a Trauma E.R. Registered Nurse for over thirty years at Lynn Hospital in Massachusetts. She spoke fluent Spanish having lived in Mexico City for several years with her first husband, Hector Arrache, and eldest son, Antonio.

She was a passionate New England Patriots fan who never missed a game. She said she was fortunate to see them win the Super Bowl 5 times in her lifetime. She was an avid fan of the Kentucky Derby and attended many Derby events, including the race itself. The Triple Crown winner a few years ago was a big highlight for her, but her true love was her four kids. They were her whole reason for being. She used to say, "I'd jump in front of a bus for you kids and always depend on each other." She kept the family close, regardless of the miles.

She remarried to her best friend Michael, who she spent every waking moment with until the end. They would listen to music together, especially Classical and Scottish Bag Pipes, but the Madam Butterfly Opera was her favorite. They met at a dance where he would play the drums, she soon became his roadie. They would dance and travel everywhere together. Life was full of love.

She is preceded in death by her parents Walter W. and Margaret Forrest, also her Brother Walter C. Forrest, and her beloved dog Maggie. She is survived by her devoted Husband and best friend, Michael D. Faia, their little dog Rusti; her 4 loving children: Antonio, Alex, Monica and Roberto Arrache, their wives; four stepchildren, and many grandchildren and cousins.

I've known Kay since I was born.
Our mothers were sisters, and Kay and her brother Walter were always part of the lives of my sister Fran and me. They were more like older brother and sister than cousins. Our mothers were sisters and our parents came from Ireland and Scotland. My aunt and uncle were among the kindest people I ever knew. My sister and I had the kind of relationship with them that other kids had with their grandparents.
When I visited in my childhood, Kay and Wally acted like typical older siblings, without the kind of friction often involved with real siblings . They gave us advice and taught us things that we would have otherwise had to learn the hard way. They also accepted us without qualification. Where else could a kid go where you could do no wrong?
As adults, Kay and I maintained the relationship, reconnecting when she moved to Florida and I escaped the New England winter each year.
We watched each other's children grow up, reveled in their successful lives and enjoyed their company during our all too infrequent meetings.
It was a mixed blessing that I was able to visit her a number of times during her last illness,
sharing old times, familiar stories, and maintaining our inside joke that we were brother and sister. However, I knew during our last visit that this was probably the final one.
I will always treasure our relationship and miss her, especially her warmth and humor.
Kay had a rich and varied life, with its share of troubles. However, her toughness enabled her to overcome the rough times.
On a personal level, I want to thank Monica and Mike for keeping Kay alive longer than she would otherwise have lived and for providing for her care and comfort during her last years. Thanks to them as well as Tony, Alex, Rob and their families for surrounding her with love throughout her life and especially during her health issues over the last few years. They demonstrated the strength that so characterized their mother.
I'm sure that whatever rewards are given to the truly good people in the next life are
being bestowed in abundance to my cousin (sister) Kay.

Kathleen Mary Faia Forrest Celebration of Life Ceremony

Her memorial service was on June 10,2018 from 12-4p at Falcon's Fire Golf Course in Kissimmee Florida. Approximately 35 people came to Celebrate her life.

A slide show was created from before she was born to her death. Food and drinks were shared by all. The music playlist was specially thought out, including bag pipes, classical such as YOYOMA, Neil Diamond, 70's songs, Disco and some Celtic music.
People sang and danced. A lot of pictures and video's were taken as a remembrance.

A violinist played the Ave Maria and other classical pieces at 1pm. A bag piper played Amazing Grace on the 18th green at 3pm, and at the end of the song, all 35 people released red balloons (her favorite color) with a special something written on the balloon. The bagpiper played, Dark Isle, Scotland the Brave (she requested on her living will)and a special song just for her Flower of Scotland.

Alex's daughter Beckah played Somewhere Over The Rainbow in her own rendition and his eldest daughter Alex produced it professionally. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. Mike, Kathleen's husband did a funny toast. We all sang Happy Birthday to Kathleen and Mikes father Michael (RIP), their birthdays were on this special day. Kathleen would've been 86 on this day that we Celebrated HER life not her death. We shared her birthday cake which was carrot cake, her favorite.

A shrine was set up with her Urn, lock of hair, her dog Maggie's picture, her picture, 2 dozen roses for her birthday from her husband Mike, her and her husband Mike's picture, 5 paintings of hers, a few drawings, photo albums, her wedding ring and mothers ring, and especially her nursing cap that was her greatest accomplishment besides raising her children.She was looking down on us all that day. I know this because on the ride to the celebration her song came on the radio "I Will Survive". Her memory lives on in all of us.

I moved to Salem, Mass when I was nine and was welcomed by this woman and her family. My neighbours across the street.
Antonio, became my best friend.
His mother, I knew her as Mrs. Arrache, treated me as part of this family, and has had a positive influence on the man I have become. For this I am grateful. I am sad that I never got to see her again and never will, but I am, as well, content that she is now resting peacefully with the happy memories she created with her children.

Kathleen was my Mother. My Mom was a tough woman, a lot tougher than I will ever be. She fought every day of her life. I Will Survive was her song. I have wonderful memories of traveling with her, going to Art shows, Ballet's, shopping and lunch and watching movies with her. We grew to be best friends. Any time I had a problem, she always gave the best advice, even if I did something stupid. She was always honest with me. My last memory was the hardest. I had to tell her to let go even though she fought till the end. Even when she couldn't speak no longer, I whispered in her ear. You have been the best mother, all your children are beautiful people, you did your job well. I'll take care of Mike and I love you ma, and I know you love me too , you don't have to say it, I know. She cried in a sigh, I know she heard everything. She is happy now with her family that she missed so much, especially her dog Maggie. That gives me great comfort.
