In Memory of
Elna Mae Webb
1929 - 2017

Elna Mae Webb passed into eternal life on Thursday, January 26, 2017 in Titusville Florida. She was born in Grand Junction, Colorado on October 10, 1929 to William Hampton DeVere and Audrey Josephine DeVere.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents as well as two of her siblings: Merlin Lee DeVere; and Dorothy Ann Jarell; by the husband of her youth, Tommy Alton Beecham; by her beloved husband, Harold Deloss Webb; and by her daughter, Catherine Leah Kempf.

Mae is survived by five of her six children : Susan Valerie (Stephen) Bach; Gregory Allen (Lu Ann) Beecham; Jo Andrea (Duane) Dallas; John Russell (Ann) Beecham; and Jennifer Mae (Carl) Miller; 14 amazing grandchildren; 13 delightful great-grandchildren; and by her brother, Ronald Keith (Laura) DeVere.

Mae grew up near the mountains, enjoying fishing up on the Grand Mesa and Blue Mesa, hiking the mountain paths, and admiring the view from the Colorado National Monument. Though she spent many years with much-loved friends and family in other states, a part of her always longed for the mountains of Colorado; fondly remembering the cold, rocky streams, the beautiful wild flowers, and the quaking aspens in the high country that seemed to be calling her home.

Mae was a capable, intelligent, loving, beautiful woman who could do anything she set her mind to. She graduated from Mesa Junior College with a BA in Home Economics. She then married Tommy Alton Beecham in 1951 and managed her household of six children with a lot of love, creativity, good economy, and hard work. Her life was filled with cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, sewing the children’s clothing, helping with school projects, and doctoring hurts for the kids as well as their pets. In the midst of this flurry of activity, she found time to help with 4H, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Brownies, Boy Scouts, ballet classes, field trips, and library days where she passed along her love for reading. All these things she did well and still managed to find energy to be President of the District PTA for several years.

Mae started work at a company called ENAP in 1975. While there she taught herself how to write computer programs before most people even owned a computer.

Mae moved back to Colorado and married Harold DeLoss Webb in 1983. The two had many joyful years together, traveling and making friends throughout Colorado and Texas.

Mae was a talented quilter, lovingly making quilts for each member of her family until she was no longer able to do so. As a member of the Space Coast Quilters, she made beautiful, fun-colored quilts to be given by the Titusville Police and Fire Departments to infants and toddlers, comforting them in times of crisis. She also made quilts for a local orphanage.

If you asked Mae to describe her greatest joy on this earth, she would unequivocally answer, “My children, my grandchildren, and my great-grandchildren.” She adored each one of them and she liked nothing better than to brag on her kids.

With her many abilities, she never rested on her own merits. Elna Mae Webb trusted God to meet all her needs. She drew near to Him and stood firm, leaving her family a legacy of faith. She prayed for each one of us faithfully and she lived her faith out before us. She has finished well and she is in the presence of her Redeemer. We, her family, rejoice with her and celebrate her life. We miss you Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Mae-Mae, Sister, Niece, Aunt, Cousin. Your love was like an immoveable pillar in our lives. Our comfort is in knowing that we will see you again someday!
