Rev. Dr. Edward VanVulkenberg Tuttle wants you to know his work on this earthly plane is done. He was called and accepted an out of this world assignment on September 15th, 2016, at the age of 92. His new assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time.

Ed is survived by his soul-mate, Linda, and children: son, Bryan Tuttle (Mt Vernon, OH), step-son, Jay (wife, Luana) Watkins (Sunbury, OH), and step-daughter, Jaime Watkins. At 18 years old, Ed joined the Marines during WWII. He loved talking about winning the light-middle weight boxing title on the ship traveling to the Pacific. But, he rarely talked about his involvement in the battles of Peleliu and Okinawa.

When he returned from the war, he joined the New Jersey State Police, attended the FBI Academy, and worked undercover for many years. He was proud to be involved in being able to disclose unscrupulous gangsters, politicians, and government administrators.

After a vacation to CA, he fell in love with the landscape and the weather and moved to the LA area, then to Simi Valley, and Camarillo. Ed worked as an executive for a large security company before starting his own business in Columbus, OH. 1984 was a big year, he met and married Linda Bearer Watkins and accepted the pulpit of Science of Mind Church.

Linda realized that Ed missed CA, where his name was “written on the wind.” So, in 1988 Ed, Linda, and Jaime climbed into a motor home and traveled across the USA, and explored California and Arizona. It fulfilled a dream Ed held for years. After all, what was the worst that could happen? We could run out of money and have to stop and get jobs, so that is exactly what we did. We traveled until we settled on the Central Coast of California

Ed’s work involved Real Estate, ministry with Pathways Community Church, and writing 3 books: Sacred Stories Sacred Dreams: Bible Myth and Metaphor; Raindrops in the Dust: Dreams, Memories, and Reflections; and Mysterious Ways: A Memoir of Spiritual Awakening and Healing. Ed was a master teacher. Fellow ministers called Ed the teachers’ teacher.

Ed was a true Renaissance Man, enjoying a variety of activities. He loved to play his guitar and share his deep melodious voice, singing old time favorites like Irish shanties, Summertime, Blue Skies, How Great Thou Art, and Amazing Grace. At 70 he decided to try his hand at painting and drawing. See his two favorites below, one is a self portrait, where he is looking at life through a microscope, exploring and seeking to understand life. The second is a chalk drawing of the Winged Goddess.

The month before Ed married Linda he was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis and told he had 5 to 7 years to live. That was 33 years ago. Ed was a firm believer in the power of prayer to heal and repeatedly demonstrated God’s healing power. He survived a severe motorcycle accident in 1972, myasthenia in 1984, and in 1998 he had a pacemaker lead driven through the back of his heart. He had numerous operations for his heart, back, broken hip, and leg. He credited his rapid healing to his spiritual discipline, which for 25 years included saying his Thank You prayer twice a day. (See the prayer below)

If we could once again hear Ed’s voice, he would tell us, “When tomorrow starts without me, Don't think we're far apart, For every time you think of me, I'm right here, in your heart.”

In place of making a donation, Ed would hope that you might enjoy doing an anonymous, unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness.

Ed's Memorial Service will be held at 1PM on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Unity Church, 2000 South St, Titusville, FL 32780.
