Orlando, FL – Osvaldo Ramos, 89, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Winter Park Memorial Hospital. He was born in Yauco, PR to Antonio Ramos and Lucia Ayala de Ramos. Osvaldo and his family relocated to New York City while he was still a young man and he lived his many years in several different cities including Brooklyn, Amsterdam, Fajardo, and Orlando. Osvaldo’s mother loved the Lord with all her heart and was the one who introduced him to Jesus, the greatest love of his life, from childhood. He graduated from Bible institute in New York City and it was during his years in Fajardo that the Lord chose to use Osvaldo in many special ways. He co-pastored Iglesia de Cristo Misionera de la Barriada Obrerra along with Rev. Aran Santana and, during that time he found his calling in ministering to the elderly. In fact, Osvaldo established a ministry in which he would visit the elderly in nursing homes around Fajardo, often single-handedly bringing them services for several years.

By profession, Osvaldo was a tailor for some time and then became a supervisor with the NYC Housing Authority until a work incident robbed him of one of his eyes. As Osvaldo continued to grow in his years, his health became an issue but he endured much difficulty with great humility and courage. He was strong and resilient, to say the least, and modeled Christ-like behavior through his many difficult circumstances.

Osvaldo will be remembered most for his love for God’s Word and his dedication to prayer. He had a pure devotion to God and an overwhelming joy when he was surrounded by his loved ones. Without a doubt, Osvaldo was loved by many and the pillar that upheld his family. While we will all miss Osvaldo greatly, we are forever grateful for the legacy of faith and the model of Christlikeness he leaves his family.

He is survived by the love of his life, Iris Delia; his children, Iris Lucia, Osvaldo Jr. and Esther. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Tato, Luis, Monchi, Anita, Papo and Jenny, his 9 grandchildren and his 19 great-grandchildren, the youngest of which has yet to make her debut. Osvaldo showed his family what love looked like, and those who had the privilege of knowing him are better people because of the example and legacy of faith he left for them.

A Memorial Service will be held at Newcomer East Orlando Chapel on Tuesday, July 17th. Visitation will be from 5:00PM to 9:00PM with the service commencing at 7:00PM. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 18th at Chapel Hill Cemetery at 1:00PM.
