Jan Ivan Burgess passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018, at the age of 79.

He was born April 28, 1938 in Ottowa, West Virginia to the late Arnold and Miriam Burgess. He is also preceded in death by his brother, James Arnold Burgess.

After 21 years with the Navy, and while working full time, he attended college to earn an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. Afterwards, he began working for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, from which he retired after 16 years.

In his spare time, Jan loved to go camping and fishing, and enjoyed working in his yard. He played on the softball league while in the Navy, and enjoyed bowling for many years, most recently on the 200 League.
