Thomas E. Foster, age 95, passed away Friday, November 17th, 2017, with his daughter Starr and her husband Ed by his side.

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 6th, 1922, he was the last of three brothers and two sisters. Tom enlisted in the U.S. Army on August 15th, 1940 and served his country during World War II and The Korean War. His military assignments included foreign duty operations in England, Europe, Africa, Japan and Korea. He served his country as a Special Agent, Army Intelligence until he honorably retired in March, 1963. During his military career, Tom earned many awards and citations. He earned a World War II Victory Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars and an Army Commendation Medal to name a few. After retirement from the Army, Tom worked as a Security Manager until he fully retired in November, 1994.

Tom loved to tell stories of his years in the military, and of his many adventures of the various places he lived. He was a very proud American and loved his country. He also loved sports, with Nascar being his favorite. But his true enjoyment was spending time with his family. He was a proud and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Tom was preceded in death by his loving wife, Edna Heafner Foster, who entered eternal life on September 25th, 2002 and his grandson, Sam Griswold, who entered eternal life on July, 21st, 2010. Tom is survived by his daughters, Starr Torres (Edgar Torres), Paula Gail Gamble, Stephanie Heafner, and his son Hal Heafner, his grandsons Shawn Dye, Shane Dye, Mikel DeSha, and Justin Ache , his granddaughters Tawna Campbell, Shana Spinosa, Alicia O’Donnell and Jade Ache, sixteen great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 1st with services following at 11:00 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, South Seminole Chapel, located at 335 East State Road 434, Longwood, Florida. A procession to Bushnell National Cemetery will follow services with a Military Honors Service at 2:30 p.m. graveside.
