Carol R. Stanka, formerly of Orlando, passed away on Nov. 17, 2017 in Altamonte Springs. She was 76.

Carol was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on Sept. 27, 1941. She married William “Bill” Stanka on Dec. 27, 1964 and they were married until his death on Jan. 18, 2001.

Carol was a cherished wife, mother and grandmother. She was loved by all and was always friendly and helpful with everyone she met, in both business and social settings. She loved being outdoors: planting flowers, boating and hunting with her family. She was Bill’s first mate in all that they did. She was always dedicated to her family and helped out with anything anyone needed. Family and friends alike always received birthday and anniversary cards, with a little something special included.

Carol is survived by her two daughters, Karen (Jeff) Pfannerstill and Laura (Robert) Hierholzer; and four grandchildren, Austin Hierholzer, Jacob Pfannerstill, Alison Pfannerstill and Jordan Hierholzer. She is also survived by two stepchildren, Bonnie (Jim) Stoll and Michael (Kimberly) Stanka as well as their families, including her four granddaughters, Kelley (Curtis) Moxley, Amanda Stoll, Sarah Stoll and Danielle Stanka, and one great-granddaughter, Lily Moxley, all of whom she considered her own. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Stanka, and her stepson, William “Billy” Stanka.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 24 at All Souls Historical Chapel, 800 S. Oak Ave., Sanford.

Family and friends are welcome to celebrate with a snack at Karen and Jeff’s home, in Longwood, directly following the services.
