Pete is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Christine Porta, his four children Kurt Porta (spouse Tina), Kari Burton (spouse Darren), PJ Porta (spouse Karen), Malia Tidwell (spouse Nick) and his 13 grandchildren Dawn, Cameron, Kiersten, Brendan, Nicholas T., Nicholas P., Alexandra, Tyler, Cailyn, Petey, Joey, Aubrey and Carly. Pete was born on August 16, 1943 in Detroit, MI to Peter and Vera Porta. He graduated from Grosse Pointe South and soon joined the army. His education continued by being accepted into the apprenticeship program and employed at Chrysler and then an engineer at Ford Motor Company. In 1980 he made a significant change and moved to Florida to become a senior engineer at the Kennedy Space Center. He then started a construction company specializing in custom homes, got his general contractor license and formed Papillon Enterprises Inc. which was his passion.

Pete was a very well-traveled man keeping up with Chris who always had a new adventure planned. His favorite place in the world was journeying through Italy and enjoying food along the way. Nothing compared to his love and excitement of making his famous spaghetti sauce which all of his family and friends will remember him by. He was very passionate about baseball including coaching, watching and playing the game; he even was a part of the fantasy baseball camp and absolutely loved the Detroit Tigers. Above all else Pete loved God and loved people.
