For more than 20 years, Pete was my general contractor for multiple projects. If there was an issue with one of these projects, Pete was always about fixing the problem first and then determining who caused it and who should pay for it. The customer always came first to Pete.
During this time, I had the opportunity to know Pete on a more personal level. I witnessed the effects of Pete’s “Aiming Juice” on a member of our golf foursome, as he climbed out of a sand trap on all fours.
Pete and I always found time to speak about baseball, Pete being a Tigers fan and I being a Yankee fan. I treasure Pete’s autographed Detroit Tigers Fantasy League baseball card and the Yankee watch that he gave me.
Pete was a good man and he will be missed by the many lives that he touched.

May you find comfort in knowing that your dear one is safe in the memory of God, who will remember every detail about him and bring him back again. God promises that he will do away with death forever, and will wipe away the tears from all faces. (Isaiah 25:8). May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loves us and gave everlasting comfort and good hope by means of undeserved kindness, comfort your hearts and make you firm. (2 Thess. 2:16. 17)

I am saddened to hear the passing of Pete. I had the pleasure of doing business with Pete. He was a man of integrity and was a fair man. He will be missed by many.

My sincerest sympathies to your family at this most difficult time. May the "Hearer of Prayer" be with you and comfort you in your time of need (Psalms 65:2).

What a gem he was. So hard to say goodbye to someone you love so much. Their life permeates your everything. I know it will be hard for all of you for quite some time. Cherish all your loving memories knowing there are many prayers being sent to each of you. Love love.

My deepest condolences for your loss. The Bible offers a promise that I hope may be able to bring you comfort, it's found in Isaiah 25:8. Helps us to see that soon death will be a thing of the past. Family and friends are in my prayers.

My sincerest sympathy to Chris and the Porta family. I was fortunate to have known Pete, not only as a business partner for the past 25yrs, but also as a great friend. His faith in god, integrity, honesty, loyalty, and commitment to family, were qualities that defined Pete. I am greatful to have shared my life with Pete, personally, in business, in our great travel adventures (credit to Chris), and playing golf.
Maida and I are saddened by his absence but know that he is in a better place.
God bless you my friend.

In the last 15 years of our military service, we lived in 18 homes and had a lot of neighbors. Pete was my next-door neighbor for the past 13 years. I can honestly say that Pete was the best next-door neighbor I ever had. He had a love for God, family, business, baseball and Italian food. We had many conversations (mostly at the boat dock on the lake) where Pete would tell me that if he had to go today, he would have no regrets. He was so very pleased with his family and his wonderful life. There was nothing that Pete wanted or needed at this point in his life. We talked for a few minutes a couple of days before his departure and Pete reminded me that he has had a great life and he was ready. I reminded Pete we are “Living the dream.”

Pete was a great guy. I knew him through several construction expansions for our office. He was a kind man that always seemed to try to figure out a solution to any problem. He was usually smiling and I enjoyed working with him. I'm sure he will missed and this loss felt by the many people that knew him. Prayers for all of his family.
~ Liana Simon - September 1, 2017
My memories of Pete are that of his love for God, his family and finally his business, in that order. That is so scriptural!
Pete, besides being a personal friend of our family was also a business colleague to the company which I represent. His professionalism was exemplified in the quality of work that his company performed in all aspects in the trade of construction. That is why our company continued to reach out to him for his personal touch on all that he touched. We at Areas USA, will miss you.
~ ROY BERGLUND - September 1, 2017
I'm so sorry for your loss. 2 Cor.1:3,4 assured is that the God of comfort will comfort us I all our trials. The Bible also assured us of the hope mentioned at John 5:29,29. May three words there give you hope.
Sincerely

I'm so saddened by Petes passing on. I was so glad we visited for a while and caught up when he came to my home to pick up some jewelry I repaired for him not long ago. My sincere condolences to the family.

My family and I were so lucky to have such a wonderful man touch our lives through our great friends Malia and Nick Tidwell. He treated us just like family! He opened up his home to us, cooked his famous spaghetti for us, and hiked around Rome, Italy with us! He always had a smile on his face. He was someone we loved to be around. Life isn't fair. The great ones often get taken too soon. We know he is in a better place now and that we will meet up again with a wine glass in each of our hands! XOXO Stephanie Miller and Family

My deepest condolences to all of his family. His love for life, for Chris, his family and God were abundantly clear. His smile was contagious and his laughter like a melody! The world won't be the same but I confident we will see him again in the presence of the almighty God.

I had the distinct pleasure of being a subcontractor working with Pete who always treated me with respect and kindness. As a woman in a man's world it was rare to receive that kind of gentleness. When our son Darren told me about Pete's illness I began praying daily for him trusting the Lord would know when to take him "home." May he rest in eternal peace and may his precious family find comfort knowing he is finally home. May God bless the family and may they be surrounded with love during this sad time until they are reunited once more. Kaye Acoustics will miss him.

For the last five years I enjoyed the family get together, either for birthdays or graduations which in it self was great! The times I got to sit and talk with Pete was always the best time, he said what he meant and meant what he said. I enjoyed our time together and will miss that more than I know right now. We were friends a friendship I will miss, Pete will have those talks again that is a certainty.
your friend for eternity

To the Porta family, My deepest condolences to all. Pete was a wonderful man. I had the privilege to work with he and Ralph with Papillon for many years. Pete and Ralph were my absolute favorite contractors. Pete was always upbeat, positive and funny. Your family loss will never be forgotten. We wish we could be with you on Saturday but we will be unable attend. Hugs to all. Betsy and Rob Berry.
~ Betsy Berry - August 31, 2017
I worked in the same department as Pete at the Kennedy Space Center for PRC in Ground Support Equipment testing and design. Pete was the lead engineer for one of the groups. He was highly respected and promoted to that position. He took me aside and taught me many important things in how to do well and move up at KSC. But most important of all he and Chris brought me back to the Lord. Having a good relationship with Jesus is the single most important thing in the world to me. In the end, nothing else matters...!

Being a property msnsger I used Papillon to do a lot of my tenant improvements so got to know Pete and he was a delight to work with. Never saw him in a bad mood and I knew I could count on him to get the job done. I know how much he loved his family because he talked about them a lot, and he certainly loved to travel.
