I subcontracted for Paul for a couple of years and then went to work for him driving his trucks for a couple more. Until losing my vision in 2002. Me and Paul and Michael and Eric and Dan enjoyed each other's time behind the wheel of our tow trucks and I was always there to help Paul and he was always there to help all of us. I live in St Petersburg Florida now and haven't seen Paul for some time. But he will be very much missed. To Kim his wife I send my condolences and to his children. I was saddened to hear of such a senseless tragedy last week. It was when I received a call from my dearest friend Eva Moreira, to let me know about Paul Gren which she heard early morning on the news. I met Paul, Kim & his three children Alexa, Jake and Ava when they still lived in Winter Park. It was Eva whom asked if I would go with her one day to give her a hand. What a Beautiful family, Paul was the kindest man. Such hospitality he and his wife Kim showed always, the children were a pleasure to meet and had great respect from all of them. I would later go back with Eva when they moved to Longwood. My heart breaks for his wife Kim and the children. It is hard to imagine Paul's life was cut so short. I met Paul and Kim when I worked in the hospitality business at HUE Restaurant in Thornton Park. They would always come in just before closing time to visit after the Orlando Magic Games. Other servers might have found this to be annoying but it was always the highlight of my night. It allowed me the time to sit and talk with them without having to be in a rush to service the other guests. In this time I really got to know Paul. I always admired how much he adored his beautiful wife and you could see the love in eyes whenever he would look at her or talk about her. Paul was a very funny, smart, kind man. He taught me so much about life, people and WINE! I will always be grateful for his generosity and am deeply saddened by his passing. My heart goes out to Kim and his family. The world has lost an amazing soul and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Rest in Peace Paul.

Paul was such a nice gentle soul. He always seemed so calm. I met him when my car was towed one time when I parked, knowingly in a tow away zone. I told him that I was so mad at myself because I knew better. I was laughing and wanting to cry at the same time, because it was no ones fault but mine. He said he really appreciated my view point and offered me a discount. Latter I hired his company to manage lots for me. If we needed to change things he was always helpful.

One time I ask if Paul would bring a car back because I had a young man who was in tears, with very little resources and a young man who was trying to open a new modest business. He was in getting a business license and parked his girlfrind's car illegally in a reserved area with big tow a way signs. I said I would pay his fine and he said "no" he was glad to help him.

I only saw kindness, and here some demented person rages so they can blame their actions on someone else. This person is going to have a long time in jail to think about his mistakes and senseless action. Paul, I am sure a lot of people are going to miss you. My thoughts are with the family. Susan M

“About 10 years ago, Cyril Huze created a Custom bike for a man who became a great friend to me. We met after the bike was delivered to Paul Gren, here in Longwood, Florida. There were some teething pains, and Cyril asked if we could sort them out for Paul, which we did. The bike is typical Cyril Huze art! A bobber based on a Chica frame, with cool touches everywhere, a great TP engine, a hand tooled seat and an amazing paint job by Chris Cruz (long before Fairless could spell Graffiti!).

Paul and I became fast friends and put many miles on our customs together. We went many times to Easyrider bike shows on the east coast, to custom shows in South Florida and local bike nights many.These are memories I will never forget. I lost track of Paul for a number of years as time and life changes often do to people, until about 2 months ago. Paul showed up with this bike and his wife’s Softail. Both covered in dust having been ignored for over 5 years. Needless to say, we got them both running and shined up nicely, and I got some time with my old friend.

Two days ago, at Paul’s Tow Company yard, someone who parked illegally and could not afford his tow bill, shot Paul at point blank range! To think that my friend, a husband and father of three at only 53 years old was killed by an a**hole over a car is unfathomable!

Our hearts go out to Kim, his lovely wife, Eva, Jake, Alex his children and everyone who will never get to share another smile with this gentle man. The motorcycling community has lost a great friend! Godspeed Paul.”

Paul was, and it is still hard to say his name in the past tense, but here goes...Paul could smile at you and make you feel like the most important person in the room. I know that I always tried to make him proud. Like a daughter to a father I wanted his approval. And, he was always so kind in giving me that one-of-a-kind smile which let me know he was proud. Being friends with Paul wasn't enough. The entire family made you want to be part of the family. They are enigmatic like that.

I learned so much about people, business and strength from him. I hope he would be proud of the woman I turned out to be.

His entire family was like him. Geniuses in their own way and such magnets of love. I adore each of them, and even though we had not spoken since I moved out of Florida, due to life and being busy, I should have made zero excuses, and called. I can't regret it, because I know he wouldn't want me too.

I know his memory and delightful character will live on in each of his children. Plus, in knowing Paul, you always know his spirit lives within all the memories made. He was a special human being. His wife said the most truthful statement to me when we spoke. "It is going to take a few great men to take the place of Paul Gren." How perfectly put. He was so many things to different people. He was there to give an unknown dj their first start. To let a young college kid learn how to tend bar. Believing in me and trusting me to take care of his most prized treasures...his incredible children. Jobs to those in need.

He was a happy man. Having the best wife, who makes you want to grow up and be like her one day, and brilliant children who were all different in personality, but amazing parts of Paul and Kim.

I don't think I could ever truly think of Paul Gren in the past. Too much lives on in all who knew him. His eternal spirit will always be here surrounding us.

My condolences will never be enough. He was larger than life. For now I will say I'm sorry that such a bright light was taken, but his prescence can be seen in the stars above us, and I'm so very sorry to his family of which he was taken too soon and over something so petty as money.

Paul was so ahead of his time. His brain constantly thinking ahead and on any subject. He even helped me in college.

Paul once told me about a movie script idea. He knew I was studying English in college and focused on creative writing. He said, "You should write a script called the Root of All Evil." I was so intrigued and was listening like he was speaking scripture. "Yes, you should make a bad guy spray a contagious incurable disease on a bunch of money. As it touches other money it rubs off and as soon as people touch they don't have long to live. Before the government steps in, millions have died over this money. Money being the root of all evil, because it's the one thing we all love and in this story the money is what kills innocent people." I wrote a 30 page script and turned it in, and told Paul that his idea got me an A for the assignment. Looking back now I think how ironic. Money to one man was enough to take this multi faceted, loving man named Paul Gren.

Yes, Paul, you're right again. Money is the root of all evil. In your case this animal who took your life thought money was more important than your beautiful life.

Even in your passing you're still here whispering all that you taught me. Taught others. Those of us who knew you well know you won't be resting in peace. You'll be sharing your peace through signs.
Signs in the rainbows that show up after a light Florida shower. In the Cardinals that fly by. The flickering street lights. The waves searching for there place to land. In the bright moonlight we all see together no matter where we live. You will live on in peace dear Paul, and never forgotten. Thank you for being a second dad and mentor to me. Raising me. I hope you are proud of the woman I've become.
