Lynn Whiting Roy of Winter Park, Florida and Cincinnati, Ohio died peacefully May 9, 2017 at the age of 85.

Lynn is the beloved daughter of the late Richard and Madelyn Whiting and is survived by her husband of nearly 63 years, Jack Roy, her children, Bruce (Cinny), Amy (Jim) Ferneding, Jenny (Ermel ) Luckett and Rob (Naomi), her grandchildren, Abbott (Jessica), Emily and Tucker Roy, Chelsea and Chase Eckert, Wes and Brad Luckett, Jack and Miles Roy, sisters Janne (John) Morlidge and Emily (the late Walter) Johann, and beloved Samoyed, Lacy.

Lynn grew up in Cincinnati, graduated from Withrow High School in 1949, started at University of Cincinnati, where she became an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and graduated with a degree in art education from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1954. She met her soul mate, Jack and they married June 5, 1954. While Lynn raised her family and lived in Cincinnati, she was an active and sustaining member of the Junior League, long time member of the Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church where she participated in bible studies and prayer groups and was a volunteer at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital where she provided manual therapy for babies.

Fittingly born on December 25, 1931, Lynn embodied everything Christ like. Lynn loved the Lord with all her heart, soul and mind and possessed gifts of kindness, sweetness, compassion and gentleness of heart. Her ways were sympathetic and charitable towards those who were suffering, physically or emotionally. People gravitated to Lynn. She knew no strangers. Her family remembers Lynn’s quick nature to compliment others on such things as their attire, behavior or any other positive attribute. When not making new friends or nurturing her bond with old ones, she enjoyed gardening, an activity conducive to getting close to her favorite friends in nature - butterflies. Intrigued by the relationship between God and nature, she drew parallels between the life cycle of butterflies and that of Christ. Lynn’s greatest love of all, however, was raising and caring for two generations of family.

A memorial service will be held 11.00am Saturday July 15, 2017 at the Knowles Chapel 100 Holt Avenue Rollins College Campus Winter Park Florida 32789 . Donations are encouraged to Eve Center, P.O.
